ABO Course Descriptions
8-9am ABO 1 hourUnderstanding the Importance of POW Measurements
This one-hour presentation will explain why position-of-wear measurements are important for digital lenses and how they can impact the patient’s visual experience. The most technical section of the course will be explaining the different types of POW measurements, how to properly take those measurements, and understanding which measurements are the most important. This course is meant to inspire confidence when taking POW measurements and inspecting compensated lenses.
9-10am ABO 1 hourCamber™ Technology
Camber Technology combines complex curves on both surfaces of the lens using a variable base curve lens blank to provide excellent vision correction. This one-hour presentation discusses the importance of the power to base curve relationship and how poorly-matched power and base curve can negatively affect vision. It also identifies the factors that contribute to high performance progressive lenses, which are most important, and why.
10-11am ABO 1 hourWhat Your Lab Wishes You Knew
This two-hour course offers in-depth education on the details of the information needed for a successful relationship between an eyecare practice and their laboratory. It is designed to help opticians and other eyecare office staff understand what information is vital for processing a job and why. Additionally, this course will provide information and the tools to help an ECP build a solid relationship with their single most important supplier, their ophthalmic lens lab.
1-2pm ABO 1 hourLeveling up your customer service and dispensing game
The one thing that can destroy your office and it’s reputation faster than doing a bait and switch or or not having the right frame mix and an incompetent staff who’s customer service is sub par. Customer service is the pillar that your success or failure is built upon. It is that first , second and last impression and interaction that shapes a customer experience and loyalty to your business.
2-3pm ABO 1 hourThick of Thin, What Really Matters When It Comes to Lens Thickness
Maximum thickness for a completed pair of eyeglasses depends on many factors including, center thickness, decentration, material index, base curve and digital lens design. New processing techniques like digital lenticularization can be utilized to further control lens thickness but there can be trade-offs. This one-hour course will explain all factors giving opticians a better understanding of the importance of each factor and how tools at their disposal can be combined to create the most ideal lens for high Rx patients.
3-4pm ABO 1 hourInnovation for Everyone
In this one-hour presentation, you will learn how to integrate the advanced technology of today’s single vision and anti-fatigue lenses into your independent eyecare business and how to assist your patients in understanding and relating to this advanced technology. By the end of the presentation, you will have a better idea of how to develop strategy that is specific to your business and the demographic you serve.
